A man I believe was truly a pioneer in not only science fiction but also in the development of the world has died. When I saw this article, I was reminded of a few days ago when I was wondering if he was still healthy or whether his death was going to be announced soon. Little did I know that today would be the day. I feel a deep sense of loss. I have (and still) enjoyed
2001,
2010,
2061 &
3001 along with the
Rama series of novels he has written. In fact, it was because of
2001: A Space Odyssey that I find myself a computer guru today.
Thank you Mr. Clarke for molding my life into what it is. Since you have asked for a ceremony without any religion, I will just say "rest in peace" and, to quote Hal, "Goodbye".
