Sometimes it is fun to cook something more than microwave food.

Today, I decided to make green chile turkey enchiladas.

Yummy!

Granted, they don't look great but they sure taste good.

Bring on Giada De Laurentiis (BTW, if there is a prettier master chef somewhere in the world, I would like to met her).

Dang It!

It was an almost perfect weekend. The only faults were:
UNM Men's basketball team won (I still say start the "fire Ritchie" chant immediately)
New York Giants lost in overtime in Seattle because of three missed field goals at the end of regulation and overtime.

Side note: Grandma is doing better. She is out of the hospital and back in rehab. Thanks for the prayers so far. Please continue to pray for her to be healthy enough to do the everyday things of life with minimal pain.

Personal Reflections

I had a peaceful, serene moment late last week that I was reminded of today as I was taking my prayer walk before work. There is a wonderful park that I walk around in a fairly mature neighborhood. The trees are all tall and provide a great amount of shade during the warmer months. Up to last week this trees still had green leaves on them. As I was walking last week and really trying to come to grips with God and my grandmother's health I happened to pass by one tree as it suddenly dumped a few hundred leaves in a 10 second span. There was no wind or a rapidly passing vehicle to cause it. It was just God. I remember Scott Fowler telling me once that felt a connection to God just by touching the bark on a tree. I just remember feeling awe as I watched and continued to watch to see if it would happen again. Sadly, it will have to wait until next year as that tree has dropped all its leaves for the year. As I reflect on it, I realize that there are some things that will cause me to stop and acknowlege that I'm not in control. Thanks God!

Grandma Update

Things have taken a turn for the worst.

First, we're told that the doctors are going to do surgery on my grandmother. Now we're told that ain't going to happen, at least not yet. It seems the doctor who was going to do the surgery is not part of the Lovelace Sandia system (see yesterday's post for my thoughts about Lovelace Sandia and increase them 1000%). Nice. Hey, great job there Lovelace. Are you intentionally trying to kill my grandmother or are you waiting for her to do it for you? It's a good thing I'm not her husband because I wouldn't have been as patient with you as he has. In fact, you would have heard from my team of attorney's by now and I know she would be out. Three more weeks of antibiotics? What about the back pain she has had for years? Anyone interested in helping her with that? How would you like to celebrate Thanksgiving in the hospital? How would you like to have your grandmother in the hospital for Thanksgiving? Doesn't anyone think of this anymore?

Another Grandmother Update

Looks like Grandma is headed for back surgery, according to Dr. Ross. After many years of complaining about back pain, seven weeks of antibiotics, multiple CT Scans and MRI's, this is the determination.

Great. Hey, thanks a lot Lovelace Sandia. The best compliment I can give you is I would rather go without health insurance than use your plan/doctors/hospitals. How many people are you planning to kill before you understand that the issue isn't profit rather helping people get well?

I'll be waiting for their answer.

Grandma

My grandmother is back in the hospital.

It seems she can't shake the infection that has kept her sidelined for the past month. My mother says that this infection is contagious and is spread by touch. Nice - I can't go to visit and give my grandmother a kiss.

We're still not sure if she will lose a kidney, although the probability of it has increased.

I'll keep you informed.

Natalie described her day as S-L-O-W. That's a great way to describe my week.

"Why?" I hear you ask.

Since you asked, our PSIP generator hiccupped this week. What is PSIP? PSIP is the program data your t.v. displays when you either look at the TV Guide channel or ask for information on your satellite receiver. When it goes down, you can't tune our channels, nor see what is on. When it's on but not configured properly, the digital signal jitters, or isn't flowing smoothly.

Either way, when PSIP is down, it's bad news for me. It took us two and a half days to get it back up and running. Insert your favorite description for a computer that doesn't work here.
