Adventures with Avelox

So I finally read the guidelines you are given with prescription medicine for the Avelox I was taking (today was the last day).

First I have to say "oops". I'm supposed to take this 4 hours before I take Prilosec or 8 hours after taking Prilosec (which really limits what time I can take it).

Second, one of the side effects is "unusual muscle/tendon pain or swelling". If I have those I'm supposed to notify my doctor. Gee, I did that and he didn't tell me to stop taking the medicine. Neither did the pulmonary doctor or the neurologist.

I know that I'm not getting the next dosage that the pulmonary doctor prescribed. I'm not going through another two + weeks without being able to walk right.

I guess I have found a medicine I'm allergic to. Heck of a way to find out, eh?

I'm Sick

It's been one heck of a week.

Monday, I was diagnosed with pneumonia and fluid around my right lung.

Wednesday, I saw the pulmonary specialist and he drained two liters of fluid from around my right lung (approximately 6 pounds of fluid. I guess you could say I do retain water). I also started feeling numbness from my waist down.

Today, I visited a neurologist. He is going to schedule an MRI on my spine because of the numbness. I think he might be right because it would explain the pain I had when I coughed and the pain in my shoulders.

I'll keep you updated as I find out more.

Christmas Party Time

Let the festivities begin!

Today I have two Christmas parties to attend.

The first is at 3 PM. It is our annual Engineering Department party (and for whatever reason, the IT department is part of the Engineering Department).

The second is at 7 PM. It is the GACC Singles Ministry Christmas party, with White Elephant gift exchange.

I'm looking forward (not) to eating a lot of sweets and the amount of poundage I will be adding to my already overweight frame and considering I need to see the doctor on Monday, I'll probably be fasting all weekend while working my rear off at home.

Sigh! Who said it was the "most wonderful time of the year?"

Sunset on Mars

I hope that one day I will be able to personally experience this.

Lobos Lose

Will somebody please have the balls to fire Ritchie McKay? C'mon, how many road blowouts do we need to suffer from before the university is embarassed enough to can him? Obviously, the volleyball coach understands it, why does Ritchie get a reprieve?

My grandmother could coach the Lobos better than Ritchie.

Do us a favor Ritchie - quit now before we force you to quit.

Michigan Got Hosed!

I don't care what anyone says, just because you win the SEC title you aren't entitled to a shot at the National Championship.

Michigan and Ohhowihateohiostate played and OSU won by 3, on their home field, as the #1 team in the nation. Given a chance to play them on a neutral field, UM would win.

Instead, Florida and Ohhowihateohiostate will play for the national championship in a game that I cannot watch (can't stand Ohhowihateohiostate and Florida is UGA's biggest rival and Natalie would kill me if I cheered for them). Nope. I get to watch another USC/UM Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. I guess there are worse things to do than watch UM win!
