What A Surprise!

My family was given a wonderful gift today by my mom's co-workers.

Tickets and hotel room for the series between the Yankees and Texas Rangers in May.

I was surprised. My mom cried. My brothers and my dad were in on it so they knew what was happening as did my mom's friend and several others at the store.

Right now I don't know what to say except "Thank you." It is obvious to me how much everyone loves my mom and you can tell that she really does show love to others. I hope when I grow up that I can be the same way.

Go Yankees! And thank you to everyone!

It's about time the UNM Athletic's department got its collective head out of its collective rear end.

Just so you know, I could do a better job than (Fired) Ritchie McKay. First of all, you don't build a team with 8 point guards and two post players 6'9" and taller. You always build a team inside-out. Strong post players will bring outside players that can score, not the other way around. Then again, when your coach is a former point guard, what do you expect?

There are some rumors that Rick Majerus wants the job out here. I'm fine with that as long as he brings Michael Cooper as an assistant with an agreement that Coop will be the next head coach after he finishes his degree.

8 Month Warning

All last year I begged, pleaded, requested some way to see Natalie for my birthday. Now, I'm not going to blame anyone because I failed in that endeavor too but now that she is moving back and we're dating each other, what can a guy ask for?

1. Perfect health
2. Grandma's health
3. To know what type of bling would look best on the woman of my dreams hand????? Maybe, maybe not.
4. Lots 'o money - you betcha!

Of course, I'm still trying to figure out how to continue to treat the princess like a princess once she arrives. I'm open to suggestions on that one.

Cancer Update

I saw the doctor yesterday regarding the CT Scan I took last week. The good news is the tumor is shrinking and it has not moved. It is about 2.5 inches in diameter and is located under my breastplate. The bad news is I still have to go through all six sessions of chemotherapy (and I was hoping I would get away with four).

Valentine's Idea's for Singles

I have lots of experience in this and these are very good ideas. This year, I get to experience the other side of the holiday - and hopefully it will go well.

The Good v. The Bad

As you are well aware, I start Chemo again this week (the bad).

As you may not be aware, Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training this week (the good).

As I'm sitting at the cancer clinic this week I'll be remembering this, especially since I'm bringing my XM Radio to listen to while I'm there and I can here all the baseball news I can handle (and I can handle a lot).

What will my Yankees do this season? How will Boston's new acquisitions do? Will the Cardinals repeat as champs?

All I know is the sound of rawhide hitting leather is the greatest sound in sports and it gives me a little bit more motivation to make sure I get healthy.

I Went for a Drive

For the first time this year. I was a little bit nervous but my nerves settled and it became natural again.

Next up, my car and the clutch. I can't wait.

Adventures in Colonoscopy

If you are over 50 I can feel your pain.

I was in the hospital this week for a colonoscopy. Definitely did not enjoy the fasting or the junk I had to drink 24 hours before the procedure or spending most of my time there fasting.

I can say this - I've had enough of hospitals. In fact, Natalie has forbidden me from ever entering a hospital again.

But now I'm home and I'm happy.

Chemo starts next week.

Update: I can visit a hospital if family or Natalie happen to find themselves trapped there.

Wow!

I..am..the..luckiest..guy..on..the..planet.

No, seriously, I am.

How else can you explain why Natalie would want to be my girlfriend? I've spent the last year praying to win her heart and suddenly it happens and you are in shock. I've never been happier in my life and to think, it took God having to put me through cancer recovery for this to finally happen.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for this. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make sure that we both made the changes in our lives that we needed to make and for those of you who will be volunteered to help us make the changes that we will need to make sure we succeed I thank you in advance.

God's grace has a shape, form and heart and I will get to experience it often once Natalie moves back.

I am moved to tears. I still can't believe it myself!
